Resolving My Dot Local

Not sure why, but by default Ubuntu Feisty doesn’t resolve dot local (.local) domains names from my dns server.  So to work around this “feature” I manually add my .local domains aliases to my network configuration settings.

Mounting a Windows Share on Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn

You must have the smbfs libraries. They are not installed by default on Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn.
